That does not guarantee a dramatic horsepower increase. On a stock car, the more meaningful improvement may be smoother boost control, more consistent throttle response, cleaner fuel trims, or a calibration better suited to locally available 91- or 93-octane fuel. An OTS map can still be the better value when the car matches its requirements and the owner does not need individual refinement.

What You Need for a WRX E-Tune

The required equipment depends on the tuning platform, WRX generation, and tuner. Most remote Subaru tunes require:

  • A mechanically healthy car.
  • All tune-related parts installed and disclosed.
  • The exact fuel requested by the tuner.

1. Submit the tuning form

You purchase the service and complete the tuner’s form with the vehicle, fuel, modifications, device information, and goals. The tuner reviews the combination and may ask for corrections, additional maintenance, different hardware, or a preliminary log.

This is the time to resolve compatibility questions. Do not install another airflow or fuel-system part halfway through the process unless the tuner approves the change.

2. Receive the base map

The first file is usually called a base map or starting map. It is built around the information you submitted so the engine can run and produce useful data while the calibration is developed.
